In my first year of college, I brought a lot of things I thought I would need and spent a lot of money on pointless things. When instead if you are living in a dorm room you should have brought these things.
Some of these things I actually had to buy some the first day I was there. These were very much unexpected things I needed to bring to college with me.

1. Storage Bins
If you have your bed lifted, the perfect place to put your storage is under your bed. These storage baskets are perfect for the extra clothes you bring.
2. Stain Remover
The last thing you want is to be charged a ridiculous amount of money for spilling something on your dorm floor. Having a stain remover handy could save you hundreds. Especially, if you are planning on coming back from fraternity parties or throwing a dorm party.

3. White Noise/Fan
A fan can help with two things. One for when your college refused to lower your dorm AC. Second when your roommates are being loud and all you hear are them playing music.
If you are a naturally colder person, then I would recommend a white noise machine instead of a fan.

4. Noise-Canceling Headphones
If you already have headphones, then you can just skip this step but I am sure you know how important they are. However, if you do not have them, I highly recommend you get some.
These are perfect for walking on campus on the way to class or in the gym for a quick workout.
5. First Aid-Kit
The amount of time I got myself hurt either doing something stupid or running into something in my time, it is much simpler just to buy a first aid kit. If you are naturally clumsy – buy one.
6. Digital Thermometer
This is one I recently added to my dorm essentials. With Covid-19 still being a problem, it is crucial to know when you have a fever and if you should be going to class or not.
7. Extension Cord
By the time your dorm is fully set up, you will need an extension cord. Not only does your dorm room comes with limited outlets but, a normal cord will not reach where your devices will be. For instance, if your bed is lifted and you do not want to buy a 10-inch phone charger – get an extension cord.
8. Command Strips/Hooks
If you plan on hanging anything up, get command strips. These do not ruin the paint and gives you free rain to decorate your dorm room how you like to.
9. Snacks
You will always need more snacks. I ran out of all of mine in the first week and these variety packs can really come in handy for a midnight snack or after a party.
10. Swifter/Mop
The dorm room is your new home. Imagine it is your apartment that you share with a roommate, you will want that apartment to be clean. This swifter above is great for cleaning floors and even easier to clean up after.

11. Medicine
Living so close to other people, sicknesses are bound to happen and when they do, you will get sick. I will not be giving medical advice but I recommend you bring some type of medicine to school with you.
12. Sunscreen
If your campus is like mine is, getting very hot, I recommend you buy sunscreen.
13. Good Quality Rain Jacket
Having a good quality rain jacket is so beneficial in college. I have the exact one as above and it is perfect for those cold windy days. It has so much room and protects from the cold.
