Squarespace vs WordPress – let’s settle the debate once and for all.

Squarespace vs WordPress - From A Blogger Who Used Both

When I first started blogging, I switched from WordPress to Squarespace to WordPress so I feel very qualified to write this blog post. Each platform does the same type of things but ultimately one is better.

(Reminder) : All of the information below is based on my personal experiences with each company. You may have different opinions and that’s okay!

Squarespace vs WordPress: Design

Spoiler WordPress has this won by a million points.

WordPress:

It is so easy to design your WordPress site for anything you want. You can find your theme on Etsy for as cheap as $25 and then customize it from there.

I have changed this site a lot of times and with a few plug-ins installed, it’s as easy as counting to three.

WordPress is the best if you want to have control over your design and can change something with a click of a button.

Squarespace:

Squarespace has a very basic design aspect to it. For instance, it allows you to edit the sizing of certain things but not the font. Or if you could, very limited designs.

Squarespace vs WordPress: SEO

This is the one you do not want to skip.

SEO, or search engine optimization, works best when you have ultimate control over your post.

Look at the URL of this post. You should see it says “wereadulting.com/squarespace-vs-wordpress/.” That was done on purpose. In a WordPress site, you are able to change that. In Squarespace you cannot do that. It is little things like that, that make WordPress a better service.

Squarespace:

You have little control, if any, of the SEO.

Squarespace vs WordPress: Pricing

Let’s get into the money!

By far the cheapest platform to start off on. WordPress has different plans for different needs. If you are just starting out, then you can buy a cheap plan and then upgrade whenever you need the extra essentials.

You can spend additional money with certain WordPress plug-ins but I don’t count that because Squarespace doesn’t offer those plug-ins in the first place.

Squarespace:

There are 4 plans that come with different needs like wordpress ranging from different price points. You will know exactly what you’re paying.

Which one is easier?

Is Squarespace easier than WordPress?

Yes, Squarespace is much easier than WordPress.

You can see exactly what you are fixing and it is very straightforward. Whereas with WordPress, you change the title font through the back end.

When I first used the platform, I had to watch Youtube videos to see how it worked. However, now I know exactly how to use it and can teach anyone on the platform.

Final Thoughts

Chose WordPress if you are wanting to start a blog that will make money faster than later. You will want control over your whole website, design, and SEO.

Chose Squarespace if you are wanting to st
