sorority rush outfits

If you’re new here, let me introduce myself.

My name is Alli (the girl doing the very outdated peace sign in the picture above) and I joined a sorority in the Fall of 2021. I recently dropped my sorority and a post will be coming soon spilling the secrets of why. However, since I have dropped I can tell you exactly what you should be wearing and you can even read my post about what questions to talk about in each round.

I also recommend looking at the Instagrams of girls who rushed last year at your school and keep in mind what’s appropriate for rush can vary depending on the school

Sorority Rush Outfits For Each Round Of Recruitment

Open-House Round Outfits

This is the very first round of recruitment and in smaller Greek-life schools these may even be optional. If they are, I HIGHLY advise you to go. You are able to meet some girls and see where you may be living. I even met and talked to the president during the open-house round!

Your outfit in this round should show personality and be less formal. HOWEVER, this does not mean wearing athletic shorts or a political t-shirt. Many of the sisters will be wearing jeans and matching T-shirts. You want them to be able to put a face to the name they see.

Philanthropy Round Outfits

This is the first “official” round of recruitment. Aka bring your A-game.

You will be going to each sorority and members will be telling you about their “philanthropy” or charity they support. It is important you ask them questions about it and seem curious.

In terms of your outfit, this round is more formal but still not all-out. Depending on the school, you may be able to wear jeans and heels.

Sisterhood Round Outfits

This is by far my favorite round of sorority recruitment. You see so many different kinds of dresses of all different colors.

You want to stand out this round. The sorority likes what they have seen so far but they want to know more about you and the best way to do that is how you dress.

You still want to make the outfit come together and look good but choose a bold color. I’ve listed some really cute ones below!

Preference Round Outfits

You are down to your final day and you are talking to the same girls as the previous day. She has already seen you stand out with your super cute Sisterhood outfit but now we want them to see you blend in.

Almost every sorority picks either black or white for the Preference round. This means you can stand in with wearing the same colors. (It’s good to not stand out this round.)

You did it!

You survived sorority recruitment and found your home but what are you going to wear!?

I had so many people ask me this and this simple answer – whatever you would normally wear.

That probably sounds funny after wearing dresses and heels but it’s the truth. Wear a simple black skirt or Nike shorts. As long as you wear sneakers you’ll be set to go!

If you have any more questions, leave them in the comments and we’ll try to answer them.
