This post is all about how to host a friendsgiving.

How To Host A Friendsgiving Your Friends Won’t Stop Talking About

1. Sending the Invites

Long gone are the days when you buy a card and manually ship out invites. Instead we (here at WereAdulting) like to make a customized Canva invitation.

We went ahead and made the one below for you to customize and send out to your friends through text easily. You will be asked to make an account but it’s completely free ;).

Also, keep in mind how long in advance you need to send out invitations so your friends can plan accordingly.

2. Setting the Table

Setting the table may seem not important but it can set the whole mood of the night.

3. Prepare an appetizer

You will have a set time for when people need to show up but not everyone shows up at that time. Some will be early and others late, so prepare an appetizer incase people want to wait for everyone before they start eating.

The best appetizers are something that people can constantly eat over an hour – so skip the food that needs to be hot or cold (Fruit is our go-to).

4. Food

Food is the most important part of the whole Friendsgiving because you want to make sure you cover every base and not miss someones favorite dish.

We highly recommend you have your friends each bring something, either food or drink to help this be more cost friendly.

Our main meal list always includes:

  • turkey
  • mashed potatoes
  • sweet potato casserole
  • green bean casserole
  • bread rolls
  • stuffing
  • gravy
  • corn & other veggies.

However… you can also add more! If you know your friend likes a specific dish, then think about adding it! Also you don’t need to personally make all of these, you can find some delicious fresh/frozen recipes at the grocery store.

5. Drinks

Another important part of the friendsgiving event is having enough drinks!

You don’t want your guests to be thirsty, so stock up on soda, alcohol, or whatever else you and your friends love to drink for the night.

Some people have certain drinks prepared but I like to have everything set out and let the people each make their own.

Thanksgiving Ideas for Activities

6. After the meal dessert + activity

I like to have an after-meal activity planned so people don’t just stand around the table or turn on the Tv.

This part is completely up to you (I did add some of my favorite ideas below). One of my favorite and possibly controversial one, is decorating ginger bread cookies. Everyone loved it and it turned into a delicious dessert afterwards.

9. Giving out ‘Thank You’ cards

The very last part of hosting a friendsgiving is giving out thank you cards.

You don’t have to do this but I think it gives a personalized touch especially if you write about how thankful you are for each and every one before the night is over.
