21 First Apartment Essentials We Recommend Over & Over Again
1. Ring Video Doorbell
Everyone needs a camera either for safety or to have in case something happens.
So if you don’t have one yet, make sure you buy one for your new apartment!
2. Tool Kit
A tool kit was by far the most-used product I used in my apartment, especially at the start.
You buy so many products and need to install different furniture that the tool kit won’t be in the closet for long.
3. BEST product to keep your apartment smelling clean!
You need these air freshener devices! This is by far the best (and cheapest way) to make your apartment smell fresh and clean.
You just plug it in and these can last for 2-3 months! I have mine right by the door so the guests get a fresh scent as soon as they walk in.
4. Mattress Topper
A mattress can cost thousands and if you’re like me, you’re broke and can’t afford to buy a new one.
So save your money and just buy a comfy topper that costs so much less!

Most blow into you, and they also let a lot of water leak out of the tub onto the floor. This super affordable option will stay put and keep your bathroom floor dry and clean.
7. vacuum Cleaner
This is by far the best vacuum cleaner for apartments and homes. My parents had it and I loved it so much that I bought it for my apartment.
It has detachable parts so you can get under the hard-to-reach places or just vacuum like normal.
8. Blackout curtains
I cannot sleep if there is a light coming into the room and these black curtains solve that problem. No light comes in and ensure you get the best sleep!
9. Myers cleaning spray
I’m in LOVE with the scent of these products.
When I clean with the all-purpose cleaner, the whole room smells fantastic for hours. It really gets the surfaces clean and they’re left looking nice and polished.
10. Mattress protector
Mattresses are so freakin expensive and I don’t want to spend that money again so I’m happy I bought a protector sheet.
This one is thinner (and cheaper) than most – so this is highly recommended!

It gets into the dishes and actually cleans them.
13. Command Multi-Pack
Command hooks are best if you are leasing your apartment.
It doesn’t ruin the pain or put holes in the wall that you will end up paying for later. Plus, this multi-pack comes with so many different sizes and shapes depending on your need.
14. Brita XL Water Filter
My roommate in college had this water filter and it soon became a must-have in my fridge. If your sink water isn’t filtered and you don’t have a water spout on your fridge, this is essential.
