1. Mattress Pad
The mattresses on the dorm beds are awful… literally. His back will be hurting after one day without one. The one listed below is the best mattress pad on the market for college students – my sister, my roommate, and I have it.
2. Dorm Supply bundle
Shopping for college supplies can get expensiveeeee so if there are sets, I recommend buying them. This one has everything you’ll need for the bed. But if you don’t want to buy a set, I also have our favorites below.
3. shoe organizer
Men love their shoes but as we already know, the dorms are very small. With this, he can bring as many shoes as he wants while not taking up any room.
4. dorm cleaning kit
Just like I said above, I HIGHLY recommend buying kits. This one is perfect for a quick clean around the dorm.
5. Dorm Sheets
If you don’t want to buy a full bed set, these are the second best idea. I have the purple ones of these and I love them!
6. Mini Fridge
Your son is going to need a mini fridge. My roommate kept using mine cause she didn’t think she would need it. However, in the dorms, you don’t have access to your own kitchen or a place to keep cold stuff (unless you have your own fridge).

7. Tool Kit
So many people forget to pack a tool kit but it comes in handy.
My dad bought me one for college and I used it whenever I had a problem (and it can teach them some great skills).
8. Towels
Do him a favor and buy some fresh towels.
9. Laundry Basket
He’s going to need a place to put his laundry and these are on amazons favorites!
10. Dorm Shelving
Dorm rooms are known for having very little space.
By adding shelves to the bedroom, he can use the vertical space to maximize the dorm’s space.

Okay so this one technically is not an “essential,” but it will save his head.
The last thing anyone wants is to lie down to go to bed and slam their head against the concrete wall.

Now this is essential.
It takes away the bad bacteria and gives clean water. In college, he will have a sink. He can fill this up with sink water and drink pure clean water.
13. Hotel Pillows
I LOVE these pillows.
They are comfy, soft, and deliver straight to your house from Amazon.
14. Wedge Pillow
I wish they sold these when I lived in the dorms because my pillows would keep falling between the cracks.
This product completely eliminates that problem.
15. Hangers
Hangers are essentials to have in his closet. He won’t have much room so it’s important he can use the space by hanging up his shirts and sweatshirts.
16. Noodle Cooker
This noodle cooker came out this year and it already has thousands of reviews.
With this, he can cook his ramen in his bed without worrying about getting burned or having a stove nearby.
17. Window Cover
These will be important during finals weeks.
He is going to spend hours studying and will be taking naps. This blacked-out window cover is perfect for making sure he can get the quality sleep he deserves.
18. vacuum
Men or at least guys in college are TERRIBLE at cleaning. One guy’s dorm room was so bad that they thought a cleaning lady was supposed to clean it.
I love this vacuum below because it’s super easy to work and cheap.

19. command strips
If he plans on hanging stuff on his walls, he’ll want these. My college allowed them but some don’t, so make sure you check with his college!
20. plastic set
He won’t need glass plates because they will break during week one. So instead buy this plastic set for him to eat in his dorm room.
21. shower shoes
The showers are disgustingggg so make sure to buy him some shower shoes.
22. bedside wall mount
He will LOVE this wall mount. It’s perfect for his LED light remote, phone, charger, etc!
